Little Bristol Bar, Speightstown - Enjoy a Rum Punch on us!
Speightstown is often overlooked by visitors to the west coast of Barbados as its more fashionable neighbour, Holetown has more obviously tourist-friendly shops and restaurants. But Speightstown, or Little Bristol as it was once known, is charmingly untouched by mainstream tourism and its eclectic mix of shops and market stalls exist for the benefit of locals rather than visitors.
As our Barbados home is at Mullins, we are just 5 minutes by car (or reggae bus!) from the centre of Speightstown and this is where we tend to come for a quick drink and to catch up with friends at Little Bristol Beach Bar - particularly on Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings when there's live music too.
Run by Rory Rodger - previously of Mullins Bar - this tiny beach bar is hidden away in the centre of town – it is easy to miss if you aren’t looking out for it and very unassuming from the street side but it has a lovely deck overlooking the sea and a wonderful laid-back vibe. Canteen style snacks are available from a small food truck – try the fish cakes – and staff are friendly and attentive.Make sure you visit just before sunset and enjoy your rum punch or Banks beer with a mix of regulars and visitors and if you've booked your villa or apartment stay through us, you'll even receive your first drink on the house (vouchers sent to you with your pre-arrival pack).
Little Bristol Bar is off the main tourist track in Barbados but is all the better for that. We thoroughly recommend you find your way to Speightstown on a Wednesday, Friday or Sunday evening and join in the fun!
