Smugglers Cove 3 is a luxury three bedroom, beachfront apartment on the first floor of Smugglers Cove, an exclusive, low density development of just seven residences on Paynes Bay in St. James. Classical Caribbean architecture meets today’s demand for elegance and style, and the apartment’s elevated position gives spectacular, unobstructed views over tropical gardens and tall coconut palms to the turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea.
Enjoy time relaxing on the spacious covered terrace, cooled by ceiling fans and furnished with comfortable wicker sofas and armchairs – the perfect spot to settle in with a book or a sundowner. Sun loungers and a barbecue sit at one end, while the dining table is ideally placed for alfresco meals with the sea as a backdrop. The principal bedroom also has doors opening onto the terrace.
Wide openings lead from the terrace into an elegant living room, where plush sofas are arranged beneath a chandelier alongside armchairs, a flat screen TV and a well-filled bookcase. The modern white kitchen is well equipped with an electric hob, built-in oven, microwave and wine cooler, and has a breakfast bar and a serving hatch looking through the living room to the sea. There is also a guest cloakroom.
All three bedrooms have king size beds, air conditioning, ceiling fans, and en-suite bathrooms. The principal bedroom enjoys sea views and is furnished with a dark wood sleigh bed and fitted wardrobes. The second bedroom is light and airy with a buttoned headboard and fitted wardrobes, while the third features a cream sleigh bed, dressing table and armoire. The bathrooms have glass showers, with twin basins in one and a built-in bath in another.
Residents share beautifully kept tropical gardens, a communal lap pool, lift access and 24-hour security, and the beautiful gardens open straight onto Paynes Bay – arguably the best beach in Barbados. The famous Sandy Lane Hotel is also a short stroll away, and Holetown, with its shops, bars, and restaurants, is around five minutes’ drive.

Property owners tend to accept bookings over the Christmas and New Year period on stricter terms than at other times of year. In general, bookings are subject to a 14 night minimum stay but owners may require a 3 week booking in some cases and will often need to approve dates to fit with their own travel plans or those of other guests. A higher deposit of 50% of the total rental price is payable for such bookings and the balance becomes due earlier at 90 days before arrival.
All prices quoted above have been calculated based on information provided by the owners but are subject to confirmation during December and January as occasionally owners may insist on the higher Christmas rate being applied either side of the main Christmas period.
