If you are researching the Sandy Lane Beach Club, it can be a little unclear at first what it refers to. The Sandy Lane Estate Beach Club, also known as the Property Owners Beach Club, is separate from Sandy Lane Hotel’s beach facilities. It is a private beach club for Sandy Lane Estate owners and guests staying in eligible villas.
It sits at the southern end of Sandy Lane Beach in St. James, next door to the hotel but run separately. On our last stay, we were at Tradewinds, one of our villas high on the estate, and most mornings the plan was the same: down to the beach. Here is what the Sandy Lane Beach Club in Barbados is really like, and who can use it.

Getting there is a pleasure of its own. Tradewinds comes with its own golf cart, and on our first morning Donna, the villa's housekeeper, drove us down to show us the route so we would have it for ourselves after that. She was lovely and her helpful directions are exactly the sort of thing that makes a fully staffed villa feel effortless. The ride is a quick, genuinely fun little drive across the golf course down to the club, a few minutes and no more. During our stay, parking was straightforward for both carts and cars.

The welcome immediately feels warm and personal. The bar serves coffee from early morning, food throughout the day, and cocktails later on, whether you are stopping by for a drink in the afternoon or watching the sun go down. The clubhouse itself was designed by Kit Kemp, and it shows. It is light and airy and full of character; shell-framed mirrors, a beaded chandelier and colourful folk furniture. More like a stylish friend's beach house than anything corporate.
There is plenty of indoor lounge seating for when you want out of the midday sun, along with comfortable shade to retreat to. For guests with a lunch reservation at Bajan Blue, it is also possible to walk along the beach from the Beach Club to Sandy Lane Hotel. It is a lovely option on quieter days, although reservations can be limited to hotel guests during peak periods.

Outside, the club’s blue sun loungers are its signature, distinguishing them from the pink loungers associated with Sandy Lane Hotel. They are lined up on the sand beneath umbrellas and coconut-tree shade, with beach attendants sweeping the area daily. The club opens directly onto a beautiful stretch of Sandy Lane Beach, widely regarded as one of the finest on the island, with calm, clear water that suits swimmers of every age. Bathrooms and changing facilities are also close by, along with outdoor showers for a quick freshen-up after time on the sand.
Some estate villas, including Tradewinds, come with a private cabana for storing personal belongings. Depending on the owner’s chosen set-up, these may also include a small fridge or other facilities. Cabanas are not included with every villa, so please check the individual villa listing or speak to our team before booking.

Here are a few practical details that are useful to know before your stay:
Is the Sandy Lane Beach Club the same as the Sandy Lane Hotel?
No. This is the private Sandy Lane Estate Beach Club. The hotel’s pool, spa, tennis courts and pink sun loungers are reserved for hotel guests and are not included with Beach Club access.
Can you buy a day pass?
No. There is no day-pass option or public access.
Who can use the Sandy Lane Beach Club?
The club is for Sandy Lane Estate owners, their registered guests, and guests renting a qualifying member villa on the estate. Villa guests are pre-registered ahead of arrival, with names held at both the Sandy Lane gates and the Beach Club. Our Guest Services team can arrange this as part of your booking.
Is there parking at the Sandy Lane Beach Club?
Yes, there is parking at the Beach Club, although spaces can be limited during the busier winter season.

For us, access to the private club was one of the reasons we enjoyed our stay at Tradewinds so much. It gave our beach days an easy, relaxed rhythm, with somewhere calm and comfortable to return to. It really does add something special to a stay in a villa with club access. The video below gives you a lovely look around for yourself.
