What to Expect at Fairmont Royal Pavilion Beach Club

What to Expect at Fairmont Royal Pavilion Beach Club

For guests staying in a villa with Fairmont Royal Pavilion Beach Club access, it is an easy place to spend a day by the sea. Set on Alleynes Bay, just north of Holetown, the club offers sun loungers on the sand, a relaxed spot for lunch and drinks, and one of the west coast's loveliest bays for swimming.

Alleynes Bay sits on Barbados' west coast in St. James. From the beach, Fairmont Royal Pavilion's distinctive pink façade is immediately recognisable, while the Beach Club sits alongside it on the sand. The sign reads "Beach Club Restaurant, Bar & Grill", although most people simply refer to it as the Fairmont Beach Club.

Beach Club Entrance Sign

The Beach Club is part of the Fairmont Royal Pavilion's beachfront offering, but it operates separately from the hotel itself. Beach Club access does not include use of the hotel pool, spa or other guest facilities. Instead, it gives villa guests a comfortable base right on the sand, with shaded seating, loungers, food and drinks close at hand.

For Hammerton guests, access is through Fairmont Royal Pavilion Beach Club Membership, which comes with individual villas rather than being purchased separately. Some west coast villas, particularly at Sugar Hill, include this membership, although it varies from property to property. You can check whether your villa includes it in the key features on the listing page, and it is always worth confirming with us before booking.

The number of passes is particularly important for larger groups. Each villa's membership covers a fixed number of guests and, in some cases, this may be fewer than the villa's maximum occupancy. Additional passes cannot be added, so ask our team to confirm the exact number for your villa before you book.

Wide Aerial

Once you arrive, it is very straightforward. Sun loungers and parasols are set out on the sand and are available on a first-come, first-served basis. It is worth arriving a little earlier during the busier winter months if you have a preferred spot in mind. Loungers and umbrellas are provided, although guests should bring their own beach towels. There is parking close to the beach, although spaces can be more limited during peak season.

The restaurant and bar make it easy to settle in for the day. Lunch is relaxed and unfussy, with seafood, salads, sandwiches and local favourites alongside cocktails, rum punch and cold Banks. It is a lovely place to stop between swims, or to linger over lunch while the children play on the sand nearby. One honest note: service can slow when the club is full, so it is a place to settle into rather than rush.

Beach Club Signs

The bay itself is the real draw. Alleynes Bay has calm, clear water and is one of our favourite west coast spots for a proper swim. As with every beach in Barbados, the sand and sea are public, but the Beach Club gives you a comfortable place to settle for the day.

There are watersports nearby too, including Hobie Cat sailing, kayaking, snorkelling and paddleboarding. It is also the bay where you can go water-skiing with Tiger Tony or jet skiing with Charlie, making it an easy choice for families or groups who want a little more than a sun lounger and a long lunch.

For guests staying at Sugar Hill, the Fairmont Beach Club is a particularly useful part of the experience. Sugar Hill sits on a ridge above the coast, with its own pool, tennis courts, fitness centre and The Deck at Sugar Hill. The Beach Club gives guests an easy option by the sea, and it is also within easy reach of west coast favourites such as JuJu's Beach Bar and Lone Star.

Land

A few practical questions often come up about Fairmont Beach Club access:

Is the Fairmont Beach Club the same as Fairmont Royal Pavilion?

The Beach Club sits beside Fairmont Royal Pavilion and is part of its beachfront offering, but Beach Club access does not include use of the hotel pool, spa or other guest facilities.

Can you buy a day pass?

For guests renting one of our villas, access is through passes held by the villa.

How many passes does my villa's Fairmont Royal Pavilion Beach Club Membership cover?

Each villa's membership covers a fixed number of guests. In some cases this may be fewer than the villa's maximum occupancy, and additional passes cannot be added. Our team can confirm the exact number for your villa before you book.

Which Beach Club does my villa have access to?

It is worth checking carefully. Some villas include access to the Fairmont Beach Club at Alleynes Bay, while others have access to the Royal Westmoreland Beach Club at Mullins Bay. They are separate venues in different bays and passes cannot be used interchangeably.

Are sun loungers reserved?

Sun loungers and umbrellas are available on a first-come, first-served basis and cannot be reserved. During busier winter weeks, it is worth arriving in good time.

Is there parking at the Fairmont Beach Club?

There is parking close to the beach, although spaces can be more limited during the peak winter season.

Please note that opening hours, restaurant service and lifeguard cover can vary seasonally, so we recommend confirming current arrangements with the venue during your stay.
